into the now
The wilderness, metaphor in art and literature, has functioned as a liminal space—an “in-between” place. It is a site for transformation, for reversal. It has been presented both in terms of infinite expanse and confinement, tumultuous wild or pastoral respite. Increasingly we experience the world, even our direct surrounding, vicariously through photographic/digital imagery. Attempting to reconcile landscape tradition with digital media, I investigate the meaning of romantic landscape as modified by layers of technology.
